Today the Green Schools Committee organised and hosted our Travel Action Day. This is one of the steps we have to complete on our journey to a “Green Schools Renewal Flag” on the Travel Theme.

Our school was a car free zone for the morning and most of the children made the effort to meet at the Tintern Complex for group walk to school at 9 a.m.

A Funky Feet Competition was held where everyone was encouraged to make their footwear really special for the day that was in it. Look at the pictures of the day to see the fantastic efforts! It was a really hard choice for the Green Schools Committee to choose winners! See the photo below for the final choices. Well Done all!

A Table Quiz on Travel & Global Warming was held in Mrs Furlongs room. There was stiff competition between all the teams with questions ranging from methods of travel in nursery rhymes, to the science behind global warming and climate change. A little something for the juniors to the seniors! See the photo below for the joint winners. Maith Thú!!

After that, everyone got to work on designing and decorating feet and various modes of transport shapes with colours and slogans. The winners of the Green Schools competition for best posters and slogans for the Travel Theme were picked. Everyone in the school had been busy over the past week planning, writing and drawing their posters for the competition. The teachers had a terrible time trying to pick winners as the standard of entry was so high! See the photo below for the winners. Well Done everyone! All the entries are on display in the conservatory.
